Nestled among the mountains of the Great North Woods lies a sweet little farm where we lovingly raise our registered Belted Galloways. Here at Otokahe Farm, we often say that we care for our cows from birth to beef, but our provision of care begins with the arrangements of our cows’ pregnancies. We take pride in the care provided for the mothers in the herd and attend the birthing of each calf. Our animals live content and peaceful lives. We care for our animals using the best animal husbandry practices.

At Otokahe farm, our grass-fed and grass-finished Belties develop at nature’s pace eating nothing but locally grown hay— grass and haylage (fermented grass hay), good water and high-quality mineral blocks (which provide critical micronutrients and minerals).

Our beef is naturally tender and lean due to the genetic makeup of the Belted Galloway breed. These traits give our beef a wonderful flavor. Our beef is lower in calories, cholesterol and total fat (including saturated fat), while it is higher in proteins, calcium, and niacin than beef from other cattle breeds.
